What is your experience with overseas parcel delivery in India?

I had posted a surface mail parcel to India from Canada. As per Canada Post it should take 4-6 weeks from Canada to India. It took 4 months, i.e. - that is when it passed customs in India. Two weeks later it is still not delivered. Yet India post claims that postal articles are delivered within India within 5 days (maximum). No wonder the private courier service would like to takeover all the dis-satisfied customers.



If India Post could publically post its performance record from time to time, and show significant improvement it could win major postal delivery contracts from some foreign companies, due to its inherent cheaper costs. Otherwise the delivery cost due to non-performance would be considered too high to put any business at risk. Due to the new technological means availability in India through computerization at all government levels. There is no reason for a poor performance.



However, India post appears to be showing great advances in many other areas of postal delivery.What is your experience with overseas parcel delivery in India?
I haven't had the experience of Parcel delivery to India from US. But, India has been leading in a lot of fields recently. I have never had problems with parcel delivery in India. Telecommunicatons have made a vast change to our economy. When we send parcel overseas, we have to abide by the rules of customs, and so if sending parcel to India is a priority, then do it as a priority mail. I don't think that you need to send anything from anywhere to India. India has everything!
